At Gospel of Grace Baptist Church, you will come to know him simply as Pastor and in many ways an ordinary guy whose earthly success is directly linked to his willingness to only be used by God in extraordinary ways.

Pastor Humberto Gomes is from the island of São Miguel, Azores, Portugal and has now been living in the United States of America for over 40 years in New Bedford, MA with his lovely wife D. Eduarda Gomes. They have raised two beautiful children and now get to spend time with their kids and grandchildren! As a young man growing up, he spent a lot of his free time studying God’s word and today he is a pastor with whom the Holy Spirit contended for 27 years to prepare for ministry. He gave God so many excuses, but reached a point in his life when he came to the conclusion that he had to accept the Lord’s calling. One of the final excuses he gave God was that he did not have the financial means to go to the seminary in which he remember’s God’s reply which was, “I will provide.” Rev. Humberto surrendered to the Lord and was able to obtain his bachelor’s degree without paying a cent. Praise to the Lord!
